US DHS Extends TPS for Venezuela
Secretary of State Mayorkas announced that DHS will extend the designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuela for 18 months. The extension will be effective as of September 10, 2022 and will run through March 10, 2024. In order to apply, the beneficiary must prove that they were in the US as of March 8, 2021 when Venezuela was first designated for TPS. Venezuelans who arrived after March 8, 2021 are not eligible to apply for TPS.
In the coming months, USCIS will issue instructions on how Venezuelans should re-register for TPS and renew their Employment Authorization Cards (EAD). Any Venezuelans who are currently eligible for TPS and have not applied should file their applications prior to September 9, 2022.
