New DOJ decision could provide deportation relief for thousands
On November 17, the office of the Attorney General at the Department of Justice made an important decision that could provide hope for thousands of immigrants in the United States. This decision allows immigration judges and the Board of Immigration of Appeals to stop deportation in certain cases.
These types of cases include:
(1) when a noncitizen has obtained lawful permanent residence after being placed in removal proceedings,
(2) when the pending deportation causes adverse immigration consequences for the noncitizen who must travel abroad to obtain a visa, or
(3) where termination is necessary for the respondent to be eligible to seek immigration relief before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The BOILA team is excited to share this good immigration news with our community!
