Advance Parole and Employment Authorization Card All in One for Adjustment Applicants
On February 11, the USCIS began issuing employment and travel authorization on a single card for certain applicants filing an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Form I-485. The card looks similar to the current Employment Authorization Document (EAD) but includes text that reads, “Serves as I-512 Advance Parole.” (See photo of the new card above.)
A card with this text will serve as both an employment authorization and Advance Parole document. Those not eligible for the travel documents will still receive the employment authorization card. Also the card would qualify as an I-9 Verification of Employment Eligibility document. Now instead of having to carry an employment authorization card and a paper Advance Parole applicant will be able to get both on one card. Also it will be advantageous in that both will now be valid for one or two years respectively.
