Posted on by

Chudy Nsobundu, 57, and Sandra Nsobundu, 49, pled guilty to forced labor charges and visa fraud on Wednesday, October 19th, in Katy, Texas. The couple filed a fraudulent visa application for the victim with the U.S State Department stating the following inaccuracies : the victim was 20 years older than she is, she was married and planning to visit the U.S. to attend her niece’s graduation.

Upon entering the U.S., the victim was practically held prisoner in the Nsobundu’s home. All of her identification documents were taken from her. She was made to believe that harm would come to her , or that she would be sent back to Nigeria if she did not perform to the expectations of the Nsobundu’s. She was restricted to only two walks per day around the perimeter of the couple’s home with their children.

Authorities are seeking that the couple pay the victim $129,108 in restitution based on 106 weeks of work, for seven days each week, at a rate of $7.25 an hour.

The couple is currently out on bond and awaiting sentencing which is set for January 2017.
