Medical Exams Validity Period Extended
Beginning August 12, 2021, USCIS is extending the validity period for the Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. This extension is a temporary response due to the delays in processing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
USCIS has extended the validity period of the form to four (4) years from the original two (2) years. USCIS may consider a completed Form I-693 valid if:
- The civil surgeon’s signature is dated no more than 60 days before the applicant filed the I-485 application;
- No more than four (4) years have passed since the date of the civil surgeon’s signature; and
- A decision on the applicant’s I-485 is issued on or before September 30, 2021.
If USCIS sent a Request for Evidence (RFE) because a I-693 had expired after two years, but it is valid under the temporary extension to four years and the person meets the requirements, USCIS asks people to please respond to the RFE by citing, printing out or otherwise mentioning this policy alert.
