Attorney General Sessions Blasts Judges Decision to Restore DACA Program
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is taking every measure to ensure that President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program stays terminated, ignoring D.C. Judge John Bates decision to have the program restarted by August 23rd.
The DACA program offered relief from deportation for undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. Sessions has stated that the DACA program enacted by former president Obama violated the administrations duty to enforce immigration laws and policy for a large group of illegal aliens. Although some would argue that the DACA program offered a solution to those immigrants brought here not of their own accord.
Judge Bates wants for the Trump administration to continue to accept DACA applications and delay the effective date of the ruling to allow for appeals when possible, but Sessions is determined to continue to termination of the program as set out by the Trump administration.
