Activists Urging for Stimulus Package to Include Immigrants
Activists are pleading with Congress to include immigrants in its relief packages. The Senate has yet to advance the Coronavirus Stimulus Package. Democrats have been very vocal against the stimulus package, stating more than $500 million of the $2 trillion it would cost, would go to large corporations, seemingly undeserving of the funds.
If the stimulus package passes, checks of $1,200 will be sent to certain Americans that meet the threshold. The bill, however, does not specify which immigrants – if any – would be eligible for the benefits.
Activists are also urging their be specific language outlined in the stimulus package that states whether immigrants will be eligible for testing and treatment of coronavirus.
Immigrants on DACA and other forms of relief are hoping to also be included in the stimulus package.
