Although not an official federal holiday, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 every year and commemorates the United States flag which was adopted in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.  In  1916 President Woodrow Wilson  officially established this day as Flag Day.  In 1949 National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.  Many groups such as Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) celebrate this day with pride and patriotism and even collect flags on this day.

  • Oldest Flag Day – since 1909 at Fairfield, Washington this has continued annually
  • Only State to make it a holiday – Pennsylvania is the first and only state to celebrate
